ABOUT ECSO:
The European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) ASBL – www.ecs-org.eu – is a fully independent non for-profit organisation under the Belgian law, established in June 2016. In years 2016-2020, ECSO was the privileged partner of the European Commission for the implementation of the European Cyber Security Public-Private Partnership (cPPP).
ECSO works with its Members and Partners to develop a competitive European cybersecurity ecosystem providing trusted cybersecurity solutions protecting the growth of the European Digital Single Market and advancing Europe’s cybersecurity posture while reducing its technological dependence.
ECSO is leading the strategic support action for the development of the European Cybersecurity Community (ECCO) in the frame of the ECCC regulation, gathering all European actors.
Currently, ECSO brings together approximately 300 Members. They include a wide variety of stakeholders such as large companies, SMEs and start-ups, research centres, universities, clusters and associations, users, and operators, as well as local, regional, and national administrations. ECSO Members originate from EU Member States, countries part of the European Economic Area (EEA), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and associated countries.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join ECSO’s EU Cybersecurity Policy team. This role will cover EU cybersecurity policies, with a primary focus on the NIS2 Directive and cybersecurity policy in Ukraine and Armenia. Additional relevant policies can include, for example, Cyber Resilience Act and Cyber Solidarity Act.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in both public policy, international relations, and cybersecurity.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Closely monitor EU cybersecurity policy developments and their implementation;
- Conduct desk research on specific cybersecurity topics and policy implementation, conduct analysis, and prepare relevant deliverables;
- Organise events on EU cybersecurity policies material, both substantively and logistically (e.g., identification of potential participants, communication);
- Attend conferences and events;
- Manage stakeholders communities in all their aspects;
- Draft concepts notes, meeting minutes, and other dissemination material;
- Coordinate with and support other ECSO policy activities and other working streams.
REQUIREMENTS:
Policy and cybersecurity skills
- Understanding of the functioning of the European institutions;
- Solid understanding of the most relevant actors in cybersecurity at EU level, their role, and the relation between them;
- Strong knowledge of the most relevant EU cybersecurity policies;
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and frameworks;
- Willingness to learn about technical aspects.
Analytical skills
- Strong qualitative analysis skills;
- Ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly and concisely.
Communication skills
- Excellent professional writing skills;
- Strong ability to build professional presentations;
- Ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical people.
Project Management
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Excellent attention to details;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proactive, flexible and reliable attitude.
Language skills
- Oral English proficiency is mandatory.
PREFEREED:
Any of the following skills, experiences, and application add-ons will be considered a plus. There is no expectation that any single candidate will meet the whole list below.
- Working knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Armenian;
- Previous experience working in an EU institution;
- Previous experience working in cybersecurity;
- Cybersecurity certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+ or Security+);
- Quantitative analysis skills;
- Professional references from previous employers or professors (name, title, contact information);
- A short writing sample (max 2 pages);
- A short presentation sample (max 5 slides).
