VIB Technologies, the centralized scientific research infrastructure of the institute, provides scientists with access to cutting-edge technologies. The program comprises the Tech Watch Core and 11 state-of-the-art core facilities, supporting the institute’s 1900 researchers with specialized expertise. Our team of over 120 staff members is dedicated to advancing scientific discovery.
VIB Tech Watch Core proactively monitors technological advancements and is currently seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join our team of technologists. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in exploring and assessing novel and emerging technologies. This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist to evaluate new technologies and coordinate technology assessments at VIB. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and stay updated with the latest advancements in emerging technologies;
- Reach out to technology providers to set up collaborations;
- Design and execute experiments to explore and validate new technologies;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to derive meaningful conclusions for each technology;
- Present findings at internal and external meetings;
- Manage projects to enable efficient technology evaluation;
- Report findings and conclusions to relevant stakeholders;
- An open-ended contract;

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master or Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences or equivalent experience;
- Experience in research is desired;
- Experience in protein biology, metabolomics assays, or AI/computational biology is a plus;
- Mindset for supporting and enabling science of other research labs;
- Interest in testing and implementing novel methods/technologies;
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams across different research settings;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Team player with strong social, communication and didactic skills.
