ABOUT CCIA:

CCIA seeks a Technology Accessibility Manager to support the Association’s work on European accessibility, technology hardware policy, standards and security. The Technology Accessibility Manager will report to the Senior Vice President for Europe and will have responsibilities including development of accessibility policies at EU and national level. The position is new, working with the Sustainability Manager, and is Brussels based. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with CCIA’s policy teams to achieve accessibility goals, including the successful and positive implementation of technology accessibility features on behalf of member companies;

  • Manage and coordinate external advocacy and campaign efforts, coalitions, and initiatives in accordance with CCIA policy objectives;

  • Work collaboratively on select sustainability projects linked to technology hardware; 

  • Draft written materials for internal and external use to educate, inform, and support CCIA’s policy positions, such as briefs, research and advocacy papers, reports, memoranda, summaries, posts, and media communications pertaining to the identified subject areas;

  • Working on international and European standards with regards to technology; 

  • Anticipate and address challenges that technology companies might face in national implementation of the European Accessibility Act with regards to technology and software; 

  • Lead and participate in meetings with institutions and policy makers representing the Association’s position on a given policy file, in particular dedicated working groups on accessibility implementation.  


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum four to five years professional experience in law, advocacy, regulation, or public policy. This is an expert position with a primary focus on accessibility policy;

  • Previous experience focused on sustainability, technology, energy, consumer products or technology issues;

  • Strong written and spoken English as well as other European languages; 

  • Strong knowledge of European processes and/or accessibility policy and tech policy.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Keen understanding and experience of European regulatory policy processes;

  • Ability to engage at Member State level and with national governments;

  • Familiarity with hardware, internet technologies and the surrounding policy environments;

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical, legal, and regulatory issues;

  • Knowledge of tech standards; 

  • Excellent interpersonal, political, analytical, public speaking and organisational skills;

  • Experience developing and rolling out advocacy campaigns towards EU institutions and / or national governments; 

  • Experience working on tech policy files appreciated;

  • Experience working with or within trade associations appreciated;

  • Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams and to exercise sound and strategic judgment in a rapidly changing policy environment;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into simple explanations;

  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously;

  • Strong EU political network in the field of climate policy.
