JOB DESCRIPTION:
The System Development Analyst works full time in the ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels in the SD section, reporting directly to one of the System Development managers. There are 2 open positions in the section related to data management, one with a focus on system modelling and one on adequacy.
The System Modelling team oversees data collections for Seasonal Outlooks, European Resource Adequacy Assessment, Ten-Year Network Development Plan, and the Grid Map. The team oversees the quality and consistency of data, which plays a critical role for studies, and liaise with TSOs to gather the data. This includes managing tools and platforms defining how data are collected to provide the required models and supporting users from a technical perspective.
The Adequacy team oversees preparation of adequacy assessments, covering time frames from several months ahead (Seasonal Outlooks) to several years ahead (European Resource Adequacy Assessment-ERAA). The team handles complex and agile workstreams, suggesting simplifications and other approaches to be used by downstream projects.
All activities of these 2 teams strongly interface with each other through the projects of the System Development section.
The role is based in ENTSO-E’s office in Brussels. Travelling limited to 2-5 times per year (approximately 2 days each) may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The System Modelling / Adequacy Analysts contribute to the Association work mainly by supporting studies, some with a stronger focus on data collection and preparation, others on the studies themselves to support the development and the implementation of new methodologies, i.e. the modelling of various aspects in the market/grid long-term simulations.
As Analyst, s×he can expect guidance from other team members to perform his/her tasks. The Analyst is expected to provide support and actively contribute to various tasks of the team. S×he can also be asked to take the lead on some specific aspects/projects. The tasks can evolve, depending on the priorities in the teams and in the section.

- Providing technical support and key inputs to data collections or projects;
- Contributing to the preparation of data collections whether by configuring the tools or improving the documentation explaining what is expected from data correspondents (TSOs);
- Supporting innovation to improve tools and/or modelling approaches to achieve higher quality and improve efficiency;
- Design, implement and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support the products:
- Develop solutions to automate the ETL/ELT process of data retrieving, validation, and transformation;
- Work with data warehousing systems, ensuring data governance, management, and modeling;
- Proactively looking for opportunities for improvement to the optimization of data workflow.
- Drafting technical documentation and reports;
- Supporting the quality assurance / quality control process to assess the plausibility of datasets, which requires to develop metrics and visuals, using state-of-the-art data analytic techniques and sound understanding of what studies are modelling;
- Supporting internal communications within expert level groups at ENTSO-E;
- Preparing and moderating ENTSO-E meetings, incl. preparing agendas, session files, presentations, and decisions, drafting minutes, tracking actions and following up to closeout actions.
PROFILE:
The System Development Analyst requires the following skills and abilities:
- University degree, preferably in in Informatics, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields. Experience in the European energy landscape is an asset;
- Experience in scripting with Python is key our software landscape is made of a blend of industrial tools and scripts;
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes;
- Experience with data visualization or BI tools is a bonus;
- Experience in working with complex datasets and automated quality checks;
- Able to develop an helicopter view and dig into the detail of processes;
- Team player with ability to self-prioritise and adapt to new priorities;
- Fast learner and able to adapt easily to a continuously changing work environment. Eager to take coordination initiative and facilitate consensus;
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English;
- Ability to work independently and team setting with competing deadlines;
- Motivation to work in a multi-cultural environment and to contribute to the European energy transition;
