ABOUT THE ROLE:
The profile of the Sustainability & Chemicals Policy Manager is as follows:
- Monitor and analyse policy and regulatory developments of EU policy issues relevant for the construction chemicals industry (chemicals legislation, construction products legislation and related legislative developments etc.);
- Provide information, guidance, and support to members on issues relevant to the industry;
- Develop and communicate the position of the sector on relevant issues, working closely with the industry expert members of the relevant EFCC working groups;
- Manage the technical working group activities. This task includes drawing up agenda, preparing the technical aspects of the meeting, drafting the minutes, following-up the agreed actions;
- Initiate and manage specific projects supporting the industry in sustainability, circularity and sustainable chemicals policy, in coordination with the relevant EFCC expert group;
- Establish and maintain relationships with the key regulatory bodies, partner industry associations and relevant stakeholders with similar priorities to represent the construction chemicals sector and positively EU initiatives, legislation and policy debates;
- Coordinate and support EFCC’s engagement with other stakeholders on joint initiatives.
EXPERIENCE AND KEY COMPETENCIES:
- University degree in sciences with an emphasis on chemistry and/or engineering;
- A minimum of 3 years professional experience in technical or EU regulatory affairs and sustainability, ideally within a company or association related to chemicals or construction;
- Fluency in written and spoken English (other EU languages, such as French and/or German would be an asset);
- Strong writing and synthesizing skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven experience of successful interaction with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders;
- Highly engaging and self-motivated, responsive and results oriented;
- Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines;
- Good knowledge of IT tools (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel).
