Are you motivated to play an active part in Europe’s clean and digital transition? smartEn is recruiting a Smart Grids  Officer to strengthen our cooperation with System Operators and drive a digitally-enabled, consumer-centric energy  system.

We are the European business association integrating the consumer-driven solutions for the clean energy transition – creating opportunities for every home, car and business to support a more variable energy system. Our 100 member companies are offering smart and digital solutions to transform consumers from passive to active energy players and  contribute to the cost-effective decarbonisation by unleashing their demand-side flexibility.

You will be part of a young, dynamic international team in the EU area in Brussels. You will work in strong cooperation  with our Policy and Research teams.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor legislative developments, contribute to shape policy recommendations and advocacy efforts to promote  demand-side flexibility in the Ten-Year Network Development Plans (TYNDP), European Resource Adequacy  Assessments (ERAA) and relevant network codes, guidelines and implementing acts on grid connections, data  interoperability and cybersecurity;

  • Monitor and coordinate advocacy activities for the establishment of a consumer-centric European Energy Data  Space;

  • Contribute to dedicated smartEn working groups to update members on crucial EU initiatives impacting their  businesses, stimulate discussions, negotiate and draft policy recommendations in different formats; - Cooperate with relevant European organisations of System Operators (e.g. ENTSO-E, EU DSO, GEODE, E.DSO,  Eurelectric and CEDEC) and Regulatory Authorities (e.g. ACER and CEER), in collaboration with members  representing smartEn in dedicated working groups.


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in energy, digitalisation in the energy sector, energy economics or  related field;

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in digitalisation of energy and/or with System Operators;

  • Good understanding of the EU energy system, notably its increasing decentralisation and digitalisation, and impacts  on the modus operandi of System Operators;

  • Analytical, attentive to details, curious, pragmatic and flexible attitude;

  • Capacity to translate technical knowledge into clear messages;

  • Fluency in written and spoken English required, other European languages are an asset;

  • High motivation in playing an active part in the clean and digital transition;

  • European citizenship/EU working permit.
