SUMMARY:
The Histoscientist drives and manages image analysis requests and projects. The main focus of your responsibilities will more specifically lie within the development and validation of new image analysis algorithms to support data delivery in a number of large retrospective studies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, validates, and documents novel image analysis algorithms for histopathology in close collaboration with assay development scientists and pathologists;
- Performs and evaluates digital image analysis of whole-slide images of histological specimens;
- Assist in writing standard operating procedures and keeping these up-to-date;
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to elucidate analysis strategies and interpretation;
- Creates reports and presentations for internal and external customers. Liaises with technical units of sponsor and suppliers;
- Support implementation of new digital pathology technologies;
- Support management and validation of digital pathology software platforms.
EDUCATION:
- PhD in Life Sciences (Veterinary Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Bio-engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry and Biotechnology) or Masters with 4yrs of experience.
MAIN REQUIREMENTS:
- Solid basis in histology and/or microscopy skills, and image analysis;
- Background in immune oncology is a plus;
- Experience with image analysis software (Visiopharm, HALO, …) and digital imaging is a strong advantage;
- Experience in a regulated environment is a plus;
- Strong computer skills and significant experience with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word;
- Background in databases and statistical analysis (SQL, R, python, …) is a bonus;
- You have excellent communication skills, you are diplomatic and a team player with a positive attitude;
- Fluent in English both written as well as spoken;
- Detail-oriented person;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to remain methodic and maintain high precision in routine practice.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hybrid role: at least 2 days onsite;
- Based in Wilrijk, Antwerp.
