The Sr. Finance Business Partner is an important bridge between the Finance function, Project teams, other functional areas and Senior Management. The core purpose of this role is to deliver financial information, tools, analysis and insight to executives across the business that equips them with the information they need to make informed decisions that align with company objectives. The Senior Finance Business Partner role is important in providing the insight that allows Project Leads and Functional Leads to challenge, coach and motivate their teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The Senior Finance Business Partner must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively in order to explain financial concepts to non-finance people. They should be able to influence key decision makers and think strategically. Excellent commercial acumen, along with good project management and analytical skills are also required for this role.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Finance Business Partnering;

  • Building partnerships and strong relationships with all Project Leads and their teams and providing financial support to facilitate effective decision making;

  • Delivering analysis and insight on project and non-project financials; providing options and scenarios for business decisions, including understanding financial risks and opportunities;

  • Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance;

  • Challenging current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost efficiencies wherever possible;

  • Dealing with and working through issues of conflict and operational challenges with project teams and other stakeholders;

  • Understanding the cost drivers of the business and providing insight to the non-finance members;

  • Effective stakeholder management. Financial planning & analysis and reporting;

  • Conduct analyses and reporting for projects and other functions including, monthly and other periodic variance analysis, coordination and development of monthly rolling forecasts, quarterly Latest Estimates and AOP;

  • Development of periodic quantitative, qualitative analysis and graphical summaries of financial performance for Project Leads and Senior Management;

  • Delivery of robust and accurate analysis of project and non-project financials and identifying risks, issues and opportunities within these areas;

  • Lead the production of the monthly reporting packs for Project Leads and Senior Management;

  • Continuously and proactively drive improvement in financial processes, business analysis and reporting;

  • Support initiatives targeted at financial processes improvement and the implementation of changes to achieve efficiencies and the company’s objectives in the areas of project and non-project financial reporting and analysis;

  • Interact with the accounting team in the preparation of the Consolidated financial statements for the Group under IFRS principles and in preparing relevant & timely financial information for the Snr Management team, Audit Committee and Board of Directors;

  • Interact with the accounting team to review, update and document business processes and financial policies to guarantee accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and to support the financial planning;

  • Other ad-hoc financial analyses as requested by Project Leads and Senior Management.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strategic and critical thinking;

  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to influence decisions through excellent effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning and the presentation of alternatives;

  • Technical accounting and finance skills with up to date knowledge of IFRS principles;

  • Be master in standard financial software and systems, including Excel and Oracle Financials (not essential but an advantage);

  • Fluent in English and Dutch (not essential but an advantage).


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Minimum 10 years working experience in finance roles which should include at least 6 years’ experience of business finance partners roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and complexity;

  • Extensive experience in a Senior FP&A role with a successful track record of leading FP&A processes, challenging key stakeholders and driving outcomes;

  • Demonstrated forecasting, reporting and associated analytics skills with the ability to provide clear analysis of performance drivers;

  • Comfortable operating within a complex, matrix environment as well as working in a Program and Project environment tracking associated program costs;

  • Track record of implementing change to improve financial processes;

  • Confident in managing demanding stakeholders, experience of engaging and influencing at Executive level;

  • Demonstrated ability of working independently and self-motivation in a fast paced and rapidly-changing environment;

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload.
