CEE Bankwatch Network is today the largest network of grassroots, environmental groups in countries of Central and Eastern Europe and a leading force in preventing dubious public investments in the field of energy, climate and environment. Operating with local communities and other NGOs since 1995, Bankwatch works to expose the influence of public banks and investment instruments (e.g. the EIB, EU Budget or the EBRD) to provide a counterbalance to their unchecked power. In Brussels, Bankwatch works primarily on the Multiannual Financial Framework as well as on the Cohesion and Regional Policy. A member of the Green 10, the ten most influential NGOs in terms of climate and environment, it takes part in a number of civil society alliances at EU level.

Bankwatch is seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our team as a Senior EU Policy Officer.

In this role, you will focus on the future EU budget, emphasizing cohesion policy and energy transformation instruments for CEE economies and beyond. You will lead Bankwatch's next EU budget campaign, collaborating closely with partner organizations and members. Additionally, you will manage the Brussels office and coordinate various aspects of Bankwatch’s EU-related activities.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE PROFILE:

  • Awareness raising and advocacy with EU level decision makers on of the EU Funds and next EU budget to just and sustainable energy transformation of the CEE region;

  • Facilitate networking and coalition building on Bankwatch campaign objectives at the Brussels level;

  • Communication with media at the Brussels-level;

  • Analysis of EU funding and financing policy in CEE countries;

  • Building understanding of national energy-transformation agenda and its impacts on climate and energy objectives of the EU (in the relevant countries);

  • Being in continuous contact with national-level and able to follow actors and trends;

  • Bringing together different perspectives and synthesizing them into a single message;

  • Advising at the national level on campaign entry-points (decision-makers and relevant EU policies) on RRF, EU funds, next EU budget and EIB relevant to their campaign objectives;

  • Provide input in the preparation of the Reports and fundraising proposals relevant to the area of work;

  • Working in compliance with legislation and Bankwatch internal procedures.


KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience with EU policy processes and advocacy strategies;

  • Good understanding of EU climate and energy policies;

  • Good knowledge on the EU budget and public funding issues;

  • Coalition-building, strong team player;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Knowledge or interest with CEE countries;

  • Ability to synthesize information;

  • Ability to build knowledge in new areas and topics;

  • minimum 4 years experience in a similar area (energy transition aspects such as energy efficiency and RES legislative framework and investments).

The job position is aim to be for an indefinite time period if both parties agree after trial period.
