  • European Youth Forum
Brussels, Belgium
Application Deadline: June 25, 2024

The European Youth Forum is currently working on a project titled “Mobilise Europe = Engaging Together” funded under the European Commission’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV). The project focuses on connecting Europeans across generations, and delivering their priorities to MEPs following the European elections. The project is already ongoing and we are looking for another person to help co-create, coordinate and deliver the remaining activities until the project ends in November 2024. This position offers a fixed-term contract with a possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will work with another Project Officer and under the guidance of the Outreach Manager. Together they will:

  • Plan and organise events to connect young people with MEPs, and coordinate with partners and with other team members;

  • Communicate with the donor, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA);

  • Oversee the project’s budget and ensure it is executed according to the European Commission’s guidelines;

  • Liaise with partners and service providers;

  • Be responsible for the administrative management of the events, including hotel booking, travel reimbursements and donor reporting;

  • Contribute to a comprehensive final narrative report.

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who can continue the exciting journey of this project and bring it to a successful close. To give you an idea of what that may look like, we are looking for a candidate who has experience in some of the below areas:

  • 1-2 years of experience managing EU-funded projects and budgets, including efficient donor communication, reporting and follow-up;

  • Experience or understanding of youth work and its principles;

  • Experience working with partners from different countries, cultures and backgrounds;

  • A proven track record of successfully delivering a variety of events aimed at a young audience, including logistical arrangements;

  • Proactive, reflective, flexible and solution-oriented;

  • Open to and able to give constructive feedback;

  • Ability to work collaboratively and desire to learn;

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

  • Strong oral and written English and French are required.

We know lists of required skills can be daunting, which is why we want to reiterate that it is more important for us is to find the right person who has the ability to:

  • Understand their own strengths and weaknesses;

  • Identify strength and skills in others;

  • Contribute to an empathetic team atmosphere and an enabling environment in which everyone can show their full potential and grow;

  • Spot opportunities and use them to evolve the project.

For this position we are offering a fixed term full time (35 hours per week) contract, starting as soon as possible. We foresee a contract duration of 6 months with the possibility of extension, to be agreed with the candidate, and depending on the start date.

The gross monthly salary according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum is €2,754 to €2,922, based on level of experience.

We also provide other benefits to employees, such as hospitalisation insurance, sport and eco-cheques, an annual STIB subscription and extra holidays. Employees are currently offered 20 days of leave/annum (pro rata).

Due to the nature of the audience we work with, meetings and events can sometimes take place outside of office hours. For this position we require someone willing to travel and work flexible hours including, when needed, occasional weekends. Overtime may be recuperated as time off in lieu, whilst weekend and evening overtime is compensated.

This position is based in Brussels and candidates should be willing to relocate or live in the surrounding area. The European Youth Forum offers a relocation package to those based outside of Belgium willing to relocate.

The European Youth Forum is the largest youth platform in Europe. We represent over 100 youth organisations, which bring together tens of millions of young people from all over Europe.

The European Youth Forum works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives by representing and advocating their needs and interests and those of their organisations.
