We have an exciting internship opportunity available to support our thriving policy department, specifically to support us ahead of the European Elections. As an intern you will provide administrative and policy research support, participate in event organisation, prepare important policy content and learn more about EU health policy. The detailed job description is available below.

This is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in learning more about policy advocacy at a European level, have an interest in health related issues and wish to gain experience in an NGO environment.

The traineeship is anticipated to last for 6 months ideally beginning in May 2024.


The anticipated job duties will include:

  • Performing election monitoring and report important developments regularly to Policy Department;

  • Supporting the Policy Officers in all administrative tasks (contact databases, meeting preparations, dissemination of policy content etc.);

  • Drafting of policy content (incl. social media content and policy presentations) under the supervision of the Policy Department lead;

  • Supporting the Policy Department in organisation policy events, including the annual Gold September event in the European Parliament;

  • Attending policy event and stakeholder meetings, and providing insight on these events to team members;

  • Engaging in SIOPE’s advocacy tasks and activities.


In terms of profile, we are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who possess:

  • University degree, ideally linked to EU political science;

  • Knowledge of EU policy process, with an interest in EU Health Policy;

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills. Experience with event organisations will be considered an advantage;

  • Attention to detail;

  • Problem solving capabilities;

  • Research and analysis skills, including the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and produce impactful written communications;

  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude;

  • Strong team working skills and ability to work in an international environment;

  • Excellent spoken and written English;

  • Experience or special interest in the not-for-profit sector is an asset;

  • Willing to travel on limited scale (in Europe);

  • Applicants must provide a work permit valid in Belgium.
