The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized United Nations agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger. It does so by investing in rural people. IFAD finances programmes and projects that increase agricultural productivity and raise rural incomes, and advocates at the local, national and international level for policies that contribute to rural transformation.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Partnership Officer of the EU/Belgium Liaison Office (EULO) in the Global Engagement, Partnership and Resource Mobilization (GPR) Division of IFAD, and in collaboration with other Partnership Officers in charge of other regions and countries based in HQ, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

- Provide support to the preparation and implementation of events (i.e. workshops, conferences) in order to enhance IFAD's visibility;
- Conduct research and analysis on the cooperation and strategic priorities of the EU institutions and Belgium as well as on their cooperation with IFAD and the broader UN family;
- Provide support to the development of effective communication material (i.e. brochures, PowerPoint presentations, factsheets);
- Provide support in the preparation of briefs and talking points in view of Senior Management official visits/meetings;
- Provide support in knowledge management including the development and maintenance of a database of key stakeholders;
- Conduct desk research on potential partners in Belgium and within EU circles (e.g. European Parliamentarians, EU member state representatives, civil society, international organizations, academia);
- Provide support for social media outreach by IFAD accounts of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc;
- Monitor media and websites for trends, news and key developments in IFAD's areas of interest.
WHAT WE NEED:
To be qualified as an IFAD intern at the EU/Belgium Liaison Office, the incumbent needs to:
- Be 30 years of age or younger;
- Be enrolled in a university preferably at post-graduate school, have attended courses in the last 24 months;
- Have a good knowledge of the EU institutions and have some knowledge of the Belgian government, the UN system and international development co-operation;
- Be fluent in English, working knowledge of French and Dutch is an asset;
- Have computer proficiency in standard software applications including PowerPoint, Excel and Sharepoint;
- Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.
- Be reactive and eager to learn;
- Be diplomatic, cordial, articulate and assertive.
