JOB DESCRIPTION:
THE ROLE:
Oxfam International is looking for a Media and Narratives Officer to contribute to the delivery of international media in support of Oxfam’s priorities, specifically Oxfam’s inequality advocacy and narratives, and a new program on global economic change (hosted by Oxfam America to reshape global economic thinking and post-neoliberalism to tackle inequality both within and between countries).
The role-holder will energize and coordinate stakeholders and peers from Oxfam International, Oxfam America, regions, countries and affiliates, and work closely with partners, allies and a cohort of scholars from the Global South to shift narratives and boost transformative ideas to tackle inequality in international, regional and national media. The role-holder will ensure that output is tightly integrated so that the media team and other teams in the department are united in delivering high-quality content across all platforms.

- Location: Flexible, (where Oxfam has an office and is able to establish a contract; candidates must have the right to work in the country where they will be based i.e., no employment visas or relocation assistance are being offered with this position);
- Contract: 2.5-year fixed term (ends February 2027), possibility of renewable depending on funding;
- One Oxfam Grade: C2;

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Essential
- Demonstrably solid news judgement and excellent written and verbal communications skills; proven track record in journalism or media-related experience; knowledge of international and/or regional media;
- Demonstrable competence and enthusiasm for delivering content across all media tools, channels, and platforms;
- Drive to achieve maximum coverage coupled with understanding and appreciation for good collaborative working processes;
- Ability to develop overarching media and social media strategies and messaging for key confederation-wide projects;
- Ability to articulate complex issues, especially economic issues, in an accessible manner, with flair and precision;
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of people, both internally and externally and at many levels, with credibility, tact and diplomacy;
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to lead, influence and motivate others;
- Effective negotiation abilities and informal leadership skills in a multi-stakeholder, multicultural, network environment;
- Understanding of media-related reputation risk and mitigation/management;
- Research, monitoring and evaluation skills;
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Desirable
- Fluency in other languages, especially French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic;
- Experience in social media;
- Experience filming and/or editing video content.
