POLITICO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of Data to join the Global Data & Insights Team. As Manager, you will lead a team of talented data analysts, guiding them in harnessing data to provide valuable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This role is essential in ensuring that data informs every aspect of our business. You will collaborate across departments - including the sales, the newsroom, finance, and operations - to optimize performance and maximize the impact of our content.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Analyze performance metrics, audience engagement, and content effectiveness, delivering strategic recommendations to optimize content strategy and advertising efforts;


• Establish and execute data strategies that align with business goals, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of data across the organization;


• Manage a team of data professionals, providing mentorship, setting clear goals, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure continuous growth and development;


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editorial, marketing, and sales, to understand data needs and provide actionable insights that support the company’s media objectives;


• Oversee data collection methodologies and analytics processes, implementing best practices to enhance data quality and reliability;


• Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and visualizations that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• 2-3 years of direct management experience of a data team;


• Proven experience using data warehousing tools, like Snowflake and AWS products;


• Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Power BI or DOMO;


• Proficient in data analytics tools and programming languages, including SQL, Python;


• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster;


• Solid understanding of statistical analysis techniques and experience in managing data collection and reporting processes;


• Experience with or exposure to analytics tools, such as Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat, or similar platforms, is a plus;


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
