WE ARE:

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.

The current vacancy is in the Science for Democracy and Evidence-Informed Policy Making Unit, of the Directorate for Innovation in Science and Policy-Making, which is based in Ispra and Brussels.

The mission of the Unit is to promote evidence-informed, collaborative policymaking and participatory and deliberative democracy in the Commission and the EU; to promote policy impact, knowledge synthesis, collaboration and citizen engagement within the JRC; through research, innovation, guidance, consultancy advice, training, capacity building and institutional development on collaboration, policymaking and democratic processes inside JRC and Commission and within the EU.

WE OFFER:

An exciting position as Knowledge Management officer – Science for Policy in the unit’s sector for Science Advice on Knowledge Sharing, Collaboration and New Ways of Working. (S)he will contribute to a number of initiatives linked to improving the Commission’s understanding of and capacity for bringing science into Knowledge Sharing, Collaboration and New Ways of Working.

This includes contribution to existing projects as well as designing new concepts and practical applications to improve JRC capacity and leadership in this field.

WE PROPOSE:

The jobholder will contribute to the development of a new JRC knowledge synthesis and orchestration strategy in line with the revitalised JRC strategy.

This will include initiatives aiming to enhance the JRC knowledge ecosystem and to support all JRC knowledge services to improve their governance, collaboration and knowledge sharing practices.

(S)he will participate in improving and expanding the coverage and reach of the existing Knowledge for Policy platform, including building a strategic vision, helping JRC knowledge services that already publish on the platform to improve their content and assisting those that would like to start by delivering trainings and providing advice.

The jobholder will also contribute to various capacity-building and change management initiatives in the field of collaboration and knowledge sharing, with a special focus on the JRC and the Commission and building relationships with relevant (societal) stakeholders and organisations outside.

WE LOOK FOR:

We look for a Knowledge Management officer - Knowledge sharing and collaboration. The ideal candidate would have the following essential qualifications.

Professional experience of not less than 3 years in at least one the following areas

  • Proven experience in gathering/producing scientific evidence to advise the policymaking process as well as analyzing policymaking and community systems;

  • Proven experience synthesizing and communicating scientific knowledge by translating it for diverse audiences, including policy-makers;

  • Proven experience in knowledge management and/or capacity-building specifically in the field of evidence-informed policymaking.


In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate

  • Good interpersonal skills and attitude in working in an international environment;

  • Ability to handle high workload when necessary and deliver under pressure;

  • Excellent knowledge of oral and written English (C1 level), as the working language is English;

  • Good communication and presentation skills.


The following requirements are considered advantages

  • A university degree in a domain relevant to the job such as political science, public administration, sociology, psychology, or related disciplines;

  • Experience in synthesizing multi-disciplinary insights, as well as helping transversal groups to co-create, maintain and succeed in delivering goals and implementation actions;

  • Experience in working in international organizations or acquired in more than one country;

  • Ability to establish networks and communicate with different stakeholders.
