COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Cancer Patients Europe (www.cancerpatientseurope.org) is a pan-European and pan-cancer type association. It was established with the goal of connecting the European and the national dimensions with the vision to reduce the burden of cancer on patients and survivors, their carers, health care systems, and society as a whole.

YOUR ROLE:

Cancer Patients Europe (CPE) is recruiting a Junior Policy Officer to support its key priority areas of work on policy. The Junior Policy Officer will assist the CPE Policy Officer and work closely with the broader team to support activities across these areas, including CPE’s work on EU Health Technology Assessments (HTA).

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and patient engagement in EU Health Policy. The Officer will support patient engagement activities in this area with some level of independence and ownership.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Support the Policy Officer in the development and implementation of policy-related activities;

  • Assist in the coordination of patient engagement in the framework of CPE’s work on EU HTA;

  • Conduct research and analysis on relevant policy topics;

  • Draft reports, position papers, and meeting summaries;

  • Monitor developments in EU health policy and provide updates to the team;

  • Assist in the organisation and coordination of policy events and meetings;

  • Manage administrative tasks related to policy activities as needed.


All tasks will be conducted in close cooperation with the Policy Officer and the CPE team.

YOUR PROFILE:

Education and skills

  • Ongoing or completed higher education in political science, public health, health economics, or a related field;

  • Demonstrated interest in health policy, cancer advocacy or patient engagement;

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;

  • Research and analytical capabilities;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

  • Fluency in English (oral and written); additional languages are an asset.


Teamwork

  • Proactive approach, collegiality, readiness to offer a helping hand in various tasks, sociable and mature personality able to relate with peers and high-level officials;

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in both team and independent environments;

  • Willingness and availability to work remotely and to undertake business travel;

  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.


Experience

  • Relevant prior professional experience in a similar position is desirable;

  • Experience in health policy work is desirable;

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is essential;

  • Experience in preparing documents, such as reports and graphs, and creating and using Excel tables.


WHAT WE OFFER:

  • This is a full-time intern position for one year. The honorarium will be according to the Belgian law on internship. There will be the possibility of prolonging the position into full-time, long-term employment;
