OVERVIEW: 

5Rights Foundation is seeking a proactive, organised, and driven individual to join our international team as a Junior International Programmes Evaluation and Communications Officer. This entry-level position is ideal for a candidate with a passion for supporting international policy work in the area of children's rights and technology. The Junior International Programmes Evaluation and Communications Officer will be responsible for gathering and analysing data that aligns with our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework, as well as supporting with communicating impact and improving programme design and management. 

In this role, the Junior International Programmes Evaluation and Communications Officer will serve as a key liaison between the MEL department and the International Advocacy team, facilitating the organisation and collection of data from various sources, both internal and external.    By providing critical information to inform ongoing assessments and improvements and helping to communicate impact, this position will help streamline operations and enhance the effectiveness of our advocacy efforts in a fast-paced environment.

We continue to drive real-life change thanks to an outstanding track-record of delivering legislation (e.g. Californian Age Appropriate Design Code), policy and regulatory frameworks (e.g. UNCRC General comment No. 25), and industry standards (e.g. IEEE 2089).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:​

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of relevant outcomes and information gathered from the international team. Ensure that data is up-to-date, organized and accessible to support effective MEL analysis;

  • Develop robust, clear and concise written and graphical analysis of MEL data to inform decision-making and impact communication;

  • Draft impactful communications materials for stakeholders and partners, effectively showcasing the impact and value of our work;

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of our MEL system by gathering relevant data and insights based on outcomes and evaluations;

  • Support the monitoring and analysis of international press, social media, and institutional developments related to technology and children's rights, identifying impact, learnings and opportunities that can inform our international advocacy strategies;

  • Provide support to the MEL and International Department in ad-hoc tasks as needed to ensure operational efficiency.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Strong analysis and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and impactful content;

  • An understanding of international policymaking processes and the international advocacy landscape;

  • Outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while working at a fast pace and meeting tight deadlines, ensuring accurate and high-quality output;

  • Excellent communicator with experience in creating compelling materials and building positive relationships across cultures;

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage;

  • A strong commitment to our values and mission. 


DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a similar role;

  • Knowledge of children's rights and the challenges they face in the digital environment.


PRACTICAL DETAILS: 

We are offering an initial six-month remote or hybrid work contract based in Belgium, or in the UK with the possibility of full-time employment following a satisfactory review. The salary is based on a gross annual salary of £24,000 in the UK, or €31,000 (including benefits) in Belgium. Candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours to accommodate different time zones.
