We are looking for a highly motivated Corporate Sales Trader to Join our Carbon trading desk in Brussels.

Language skills: Native German, good command of English.

The EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) is a cornerstone of the EU's policy to combat climate change and its key tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions cost-effectively. It is the world's first major carbon market and remains the biggest one.

The EU ETS works on the principle of 'cap and trade.' A cap is set on the total amount of certain greenhouse gases that can be emitted by installations covered by the system. The trading of these allowances and credits is intended to provide financial incentives emission reductions.

As a market leader in EU ETS trading, we provide our clients with direct access to the markets for buying & selling allowances. MORE ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role reports into the Head of DACH and is responsible for developing a portfolio of large client accounts to trade with and build strong long-term relationships. As a corporate sales trader, you'll be part of our front-office workforce, advising clients on their net zero journey, and trading carbon allowances on their behalf. For this specific position, we are looking for a candidate with great passion for trading, and a strong commercial mindset. You will assist big events, conduct webinars, and conferences, visit clients on a regular basis, and become an expert in the carbon industry.

Cherry on the top, your actions and determination will have a direct impact on some of the largest polluters across the region by supporting them in their net zero journey. WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE ROLE:

  • 1 - 3 years of sales or account management experience preferably in the energy sector;

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ambitious spirit, proactive personality, and a commercial mindset - prior entrepreneurial experience is a plus;

  • Strong attention to detail, good with numbers and Excel;

  • Driving license is a must - regular travel to customers is required;

  • Relevant degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration is required;

  • Native German level and a good command of English.


WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Join our Carbon Trading Desk as a Junior Corporate sales Trader for your region;

  • Develop a deep understanding of your market, including buyers, sellers, and competitors;

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of new customers and counterparts active on the certificates market, prioritize your leads, and turn them into clients and transactions;

  • Be the first point of contact for your clients. Conduct day-to-day sales initiatives and provide them with essential market intelligence analysis to support pricing, trading, and risk mitigation strategies;

  • Conduct on-site meetings and discussions with potential customers about their needs;

  • Take initial contacts through to financial close, which might take from 1 day to 6 months;

  • Represent Vertis and build our brand on the market through conferences and PR initiatives.
