CER is the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies. Our role is to represent the interests of our members on the EU policy-making scene and in the process of technical harmonisation leading to a Single European Railway Area.
Our Technical Team works in close relations with a broad European network of experts from our members, EU policy makers, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and other sector organisations to advance Key Technology Enablers, such as the future rail traffic control system (ETCS), the future mobile communications system for rail (FRMCS), the Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC) and on setting and revising Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) applicable to operators across Europe.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A recent graduate holding a Master’s Degree in a technical discipline;
- A strong interest for the rail sector and ideally a first practical experience, the curiosity to learn more about technology and interoperability in the European rail system and the perseverance to get into the relevant details of the technical topics;
- Full professional proficiency in English with the capacity to prepare documents and presentations. Knowledge of another EU working language is a plus;
- Experience in using MS Office 365 and in particular MS Teams and MS Planner to set up Teams Channels for working groups and update our common SharePoint;
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail, with an ability to meet tight deadlines to be able to draft meeting minutes, summaries, position papers and presentations;
- Excellent organisational skills, the interest in working in a diverse and multi-cultural team, excellent relational skills to work with members and other European associations;
- The legal authorization to work in Belgium.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- An entry point into the European rail sector with a paid full-time internship CIP /BIO (1*) of 6 months exclusively reserved to recent graduates. Meal vouchers, full reimbursement of public transport travel costs and a contribution to accommodation costs;
- The opportunity of participating actively in the work of the CER Technical Team on driving Key Technology Enablers and Interoperability in the European rail sector;
- Work with a broad range of technical experts from our members across Europe and enter into the world of European rail technology and interoperability;
- A first-hand experience in a European association’s policy activities, interesting and varied work, nice centrally located offices, a friendly multinational atmosphere.
