JOB DESCRIPTION:

Capacity for Nutrition – Advisory (C4N- Advisory) is one of three components of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme. K4N is financed jointly by European Commission (EC) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims to support EC, BMZ and its partners with competence and knowledge to inform nutrition-related programs and policies with evidence-based approaches and strategies. C4N strengthens capacities to enhance the knowledge base of the EC, EU Delegations, EU Member States and partner countries to advance the fight against all forms of malnutrition. C4N is a key element of the EC’s “Nutrition for Development Programme (N4D)”, which underpins the implementation of the EU’s “Action Plan for Nutrition” (APN). Moreover, C4N supports the operationalisation of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement 3.0 strategy.

YOUR TASKS:

During your intership you'll have the following tasks:

  • Conducting research, analyses and technical assessments and processing information on nutrition, food security and related topics like health, climate or gender;

  • Preparing information independently for various target groups, international events and reports relevant for the nutrition community;

  • Supporting the planning, implementation and follow-up of technical meetings, webinars and exchanges;

  • Supporting the preparation and summary of publications and information materials in the international and European sphere of nutrition and beyond;

  • Supporting the delivery of technical assistance and expertise to EC/INTPA, BMZ and EU Delegations upon request;

  • Supporting the team in knowledge management within the programme and with other GIZ nutrition programmes;

  • Supporting the day-to-day work of the project through organisational and technical assistance and processing of communication materials, development of technical and conceptual ideas and preparation of minutes for different meetings.


YOUR PROFILE:

  • Advanced studies in Nutrition, Agriculture and Food Sciences, Public Health or a related discipline;

  • Interest and knowledge of international discussions on different aspects of healthy diets, all forms of malnutrition and the food systems approach;

  • Internship, exchange semester or work experience in a developing or emerging country;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proficient IT skills;

  • Flexibility, well organised working practices and good communication skills;

  • Business fluent in English; German, Spanish or French language skills are an advantage.


NOTES:

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.

Candidates must also hold a Belgian work permit, which in case of non-EU nationality must be uploaded when applying. GIZ will neither cover costs nor apply for work permits for internships.

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
