JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is seeking a Legal Expert to join their Legal Team, consisting of six members. As a Legal Expert, you will provide recommendations, draft legal documents, and offer legal advice in the Non-Life Retail insurance sector. You will support various internal clients, including operational teams in Underwriting, Claims, and Insurance Procurement, as well as teams in Offer Retail, Compliance & Privacy, and Internal Control.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide legal expertise on Non-Life Retail insurance matters (Car, Fire, or Family Liability);

  • Support operational teams (Underwriting and Claims) and assist in drafting, reviewing, and terminating supplier contracts and other legal documents for Insurance Procurement and Claims Solutions teams;

  • Identify operational risks and propose process improvements;

  • Draft instructional notes based on legislation and case law for managers, and create guides and training materials;

  • Assist Offer Retail teams in drafting general conditions;

  • Act as the first line of defense on Compliance, Privacy, and GDPR matters;

  • Conduct legal monitoring, follow daily updates and analyze regulations (including federal, regional, and European legislative projects);

  • Follow and analyze case law, making it available to relevant teams;

  • Compile monthly legal information for various departments on legislative and case law developments;

  • Keep your legal knowledge up-to-date through on-the-job training and formal education.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Law;

  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience as a Legal Expert in Non-Life insurance;

  • Fluency in Dutch or French, with a good understanding of the other national language;

  • Structured approach with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;

  • Ability to work independently while being a team player;

  • Enjoy sharing knowledge and experience;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and solution-oriented mindset.


DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Excellent knowledge in Car, Fire, or Family Liability insurance;

  • Specialization in Privacy/GDPR or Compliance.
