 JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Head of Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation (MA&EG) Digital Strategy will lead the development and implementation of innovative digital strategies that enhance the collection, analysis, and dissemination of medical evidence and HCP experience as part of the broader digital strategy at argenx. This individual will serve as a member of the global technology strategy team providing input on the needs for digital / technological tools and capabilities and engaging heavily across the MA&EG Community (global and with the countries and the various capabilities within MA&EG such as HEOR, RWE, Medical Information (MI), Scientific Communications, Medical Directors, etc.) acting as a liaison between medical and digital teams.

The Head of MA&EG Digital Strategy will report to the Global Head of MA&EG and will be a member of the argenx MA&EG Leadership Team. This individual will also lead the MA&EG digital community in a matrix environment whose members span geographies and functions, balancing areas for common implementation and areas where specialization is needed. This strategic leader is responsible for shaping digital solutions and capabilities that serve the MA&EG community in a collaborative way and in co-creation with the global technology strategy team. 

YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the creation and execution of a future-looking MA&EG digital strategy, ensuring initiatives align with overall business goals and medical objectives with input from regional and country MA&EG teams (US, DE, JP, Developed Markets, Emerging and Partner Markets);

  • Work closely with Technology Strategy Team, Business Information Systems (BIS), MA&EG teams, Asset teams, Legal & Compliance to provide input on and implement innovative digital approaches in scientific communication, evidence generation, patient and HCP engagement;

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in digital applications in industry and specifically within Medical Affairs to proactively identify opportunities to further develop argenx’s digital and technological capabilities;

  • Co-create and help drive the broader MA&EG vision and strategies as a member of the argenx MA&EG Leadership Team that with help accelerate achievement of argenx Vision 2030 with the expansion of our investment across indications, molecules, and patient impact;

  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment that supports innovative solutions and strategies, works flexibly, and empowers people to do their best work;

  • Ensure all medical affairs activities maintain the highest standards, comply with applicable pharmaceutical regulation as well as argenx policies and procedures;

  • Lead a MA&EG community of individuals whose focus is on meeting our digital needs with the possibility of hiring/directly managing people who support the execution of MA&EG digital strategies.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge in complex disease areas to support development and identification of digital tools, approaches, ways of working that can support internal and external stakeholder communication and data generation by MA⪚

  • Demonstrated ability to apply and grow the digital capabilities of teams, particularly in MA&EG, leveraging understanding of the drug development process, meeting the needs of customers, and digital tools and technology;

  • Understanding of latest digital trends and advancements in education, data collection (including within clinical trials), and communication and ability to translate current trends into future solutions;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong connector with the ability to collaborate with and co-create with a diverse group of stakeholders;

  • Ability to work in a complex, fast-moving, and matrixed environment and lead teams through ambiguity. Demonstrates agility and ability to manage competing demands and prioritize. Able to balance short-term and long-term goals. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events;

  • Ability to identify partnership opportunities and collaborate with external entities to enable access to new digital capabilities for argenx.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MBA or equivalent) preferred, not required;

  • 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry across both medical affairs and digital transformation or strategy roles is preferred; open to considering individuals with depth of digital customer experience in other industries;

  • Experience leading digital-focused teams;  

  • Knowledge of drug development/clinical trials is an advantage; 

  • Strong team player who has proven interpersonal skills with ability to work in a complex matrix environment and on cross-functional teams;

  • Ability to travel 30-40% of the time as needed (domestic and global).
