DESCRIPTION:

European Schoolnet is looking for a graphic designer with expertise in video editing and recording. The ideal candidate will have some experience using design and video editing software and be able to find the right style and layout for every project. The candidate will be able to develop visual representations, in both print and electronic media, collaborating on various projects in the Science Education department. This position offers the opportunity to grow professionally, working in an international organisation, in the field of education and technology, as part of our communications department, based in Brussels.

OBJECTIVES AND TASKS OF THIS ROLE:

  • Work on a wide range of projects, using software programs to develop graphic designs that meet EU projects targets;

  • Deliver the editing and recording of different video on the topic of Science Education for EU funded projects in the educational field;

  • Develop and implement concepts by determining the ideal usage of colour, text, font style, imagery, and layout;

  • Obtain input from stakeholders to ensure that designs meet quality standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, in line with visual identity or guidelines;

  • Work cooperatively with other communication team members to meet deadlines and align on priorities;

  • Retouching and optimization of image, using photo-editing software.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Diploma in a relevant field (e.g. film school, digital video production school etc);

  • Demonstrable equivalent experiences in graphic design, video editing and photography are key asset;

  • Familiar with the Google Suite / MS Office applications;

  • Academic or professional experience with design software (i. e. Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Canva);

  • Good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and especially Adobe Premiere Pro (Win OS);

  • Expertise in portal management/web editing/design is a plus;

  • Experience in animations and visual effects is a plus;

  • Ability to manage several projects at the same time and to respect deadlines;

  • Very good spoken and written English. Additional languages are an asset.

USEFUL INFORMATION:

  • Deadline for applications: Until the position is filled;

  • Duration: CDD until the end of the year (Contract Duration Determinée – a fixed-term contract) according to Belgian standard conditions (renewable). Full time from Monday to Friday (possibility to choose between 38 or 40 hours / week);

  • Benefits: Meal vouchers, travel expenses support, corporate DKV hospitalisation insurance, and teleworking from home (up to three days per week1);

  • Location: European Schoolnet’s office is at Rue de Trèves/Trierstraat 61, Brussels, Belgium. The position requires living in Belgium;

  • Eligibility: Applicants must be EU citizens or possess a valid work permit for Belgium;

In the last 15 years, the team has been involved in 60+ projects including both EC funded initiatives (e.g., Scientix, the community for science education in Europe) and private funded projects (e.g., the STEM Alliance). The department consists of 24 colleagues, including project managers, coordinators, pedagogical advisers, and communications and engagement officers.
