DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a flow cytometry expert to join an exciting research program in the Pasciuto lab at VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology.

Our lab studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuroimmune interactions in the context of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled biologist with strong expertise in flow cytometry, particularly in the design and analysis of complex spectral flow cytometry panels. You will play a key role in both advancing in-house projects and supporting other researchers.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Design, test, and analyse spectral flow cytometry panels;

  • Perform routine tasks: run QC, manage stocks, update protocols;

  • Support other lab members with experimental planning, acquisition, analysis, and presentation of flow data;

  • Antibody titration, troubleshooting, and panel optimization;

  • Train new lab members and stay up to date with technological advancements;

  • Maintain organized records and report weekly to the lab head.


YOUR PROFILE:

Essential

  • Professional bachelor’s degree in life sciences or industrial engineering, with relevant lab experience;

  • Solid hands-on experience with flow cytometry (FACS), including panel design and analysis (e.g., FlowJo);

  • Passion for supporting scientific projects through technical expertise;

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Comfortable working with deadlines and maintaining high standards;

  • Flexible and eager to learn new skills;

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English;

  • Strong team player, but also able to work independently;

  • Motivated, proactive, and collaborative;

  • Comfortable working in an international environment.


Desirable

  • PhD in biomedical sciences, biotechnology, or a related field;

  • Experience with spectral flow cytometry;

  • Experience working with mouse models (FELASA B or C);

  • Programming skills in R and/or Python;

  • Background in Immunology.
