THE POSITION:

Senior Operations & Finance Manager

The Finance & Operations Officer will work closely with and under the guidance of a Senior Operations & Finance Manager to carry out the following main tasks:

  • Supporting the logistics of Equinet events and projects, daily follow-up of invoices, expenses, income of the organisation; regular updating of the bookkeeping and processing of payments;

  • Supporting the management of the organisation and the project budgets with the Finance & Operations Manager and Projects Team;

  • Liaising with Belgian administrations and agencies, updating Equinet’s information in case of changes (e.g. payroll, addresses, new employees…), and drafting documents to communicate them when needed;

  • Supporting the Finance & Operations Manager in HR and admin related activities (updating internal work regulations, helping with keeping track of staff holidays and time off requests, etc.);

  • Supporting the Finance and Operations Manager in Monitoring and Evaluation activities, in close collaboration with the other departments.


QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES:

Essential

  • Relevant Bachelor or Master’s degree in accounting, organisational management, Secretarial management is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1);

  • Relevant experience in and taste for dealing with financial issues;

  • Excellent Command of French or Dutch (C1), to liaise with the various administrations and service providers in Belgium;

  • Knowledgeable about Belgian administrations applicable to a Brussels-based Non Profit;

  • strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of Equinet;

  • Organised and precise approach to work;

  • Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative;

  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills;

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job;

  • Team player and comfortable in an international environment;

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom).


Desirable

  • Previous experience in civil society organisations, especially in back office positions;

  • Knowledge of Equality and the work of Equality Bodies, their values, structure, mission, activities;

  • Good knowledge of bookkeeping tools (BOB50 or any other).


CONTRACT CONDITIONS AND REMUNERATION:

  • Open-ended contract under Belgian law;

  • Full-time, 38 hours/week; Equinet allows partial remote work (max 3 days/week);

  • A salary in line with the position requirements, with additional benefits (€53for public transportation, €30€ of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, 8€ meal vouchers);

  • The position might require some travel in Europe, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by Equinet.


WHAT WE OFFER:

This is a full-time (38 hours/week) open-ended contract under Belgian law to be performed at the Equinet Secretariat, located in Brussels, Belgium. Equinet allows partial remote work (max 3 days/week).

Equinet offers a Belgian employment contract with the following package:

  • Competitive monthly salary in line with the position requirements;

  • Paid holiday in accordance with Belgian law;

  • 13th month (pro rata of months worked);

  • Extra holiday pay to the pro rata of days worked;

  • EUR 8 face-value meal voucher per day worked;

  • €53 for public transportation;

  • Medical and dental insurance.


The position might require some travel in Europe, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by Equinet.
