The Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) are recruiting a Finance and Administration Officer for the European Secretariat of the organisation, in Brussels.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Daily follow-up of invoices, expenses, income of the organisation;

  • Liaising with Belgian administrations and agencies, updating JEF Europe’s information in case of changes (e.g. payroll, addresses, new employees…), and drafting documents to communicate them when needed;

  • Supporting the Secretary General in HR and admin related activities (updating internal work regulations, helping with keeping track of staff holidays and time off requests, etc.);

  • Contribution to JEF Europe’s campaigns, activities and programmes;

  • Co-managing budgets of different projects with the Secretary-General and Projects Team;

  • Supporting JEF events and projects.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;

  • Excellent command of English (C1);

  • Relevant experience in financial management;

  • Command of French or Dutch at native or near native level, to liaise with the various administrations and service providers in Belgium;

  • Knowledgeable about Belgian administrations applicable to a Brussels-based NGO;

  • An activist mindset and strong commitment to social change and the values and vision of JEF Europe;

  • Organised and precise approach to work;

  • Relational comfort, approachable and sense of initiative;

  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with strong organisational and time management skills;

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn into new things quickly on the job;

  • Team player and comfortable in an international environment;

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…), collaborative tools (G Suite, Slack…) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Google Meets…).


DESIRABLE:

  • Previous experience in civil society organisations, especially in back office positions;

  • Knowledge of JEF, its network, values, structure, mission, activities – being a member of JEF is an asset.


CONTRACT CONDITIONS AND REMUNERATION:

  • 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;

  • Full-time, 38 hours/week;

  • Monthly gross salary: €2100 with additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €100€ of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers);

  • Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
