JOB SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for daily transport of the Ambassador to commitments of meetings, events and other activities. The Chauffeur will also provide transport services to Ministers, Senior Government Officials and the Guests of the Ambassador as required. Additional daily functions will include ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the official vehicle, monitoring the general maintenance of the official residence.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties include:

  • Transport the Ambassador, Ministers, Senior Government Officials and Guests of the Ambassador as required

  • Maintain and update a maintenance log for the Official vehicle with any concerns or matters needing to be addressed brought to the attention of the Head of Chancery

  • Ensure proper maintenance of Official vehicle inclusive of the requirements of cleaning and fuel

  • Liaise closely with the Assistant to the Ambassador regarding the Ambassador's transportation schedule


FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

The incumbent must be a skilled professional and competent driver with the ability to communicate and adapt as needed in a constantly evolving environment in order to perform the following functions:

  • Assist with monitoring the general maintenance requirements of Official residence (in the areas of seasonal clearance of driveway, terraces, walkways and any repairs), which should be brought to the attention of the Head of Chancery

  • Assist with reception duties of receiving guests of the Ambassador at the Chancery

  • Assist with Embassy functions at all stages as necessary (set up, during and break down/clean up) in the absence of the Messenger as well as at the request of the Ambassador

  • Any other related duties that may be assigned


The incumbent must monitor traffic activities or national events which may affect normal transport routes in order for appropriate detours to be taken.

REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Valid and Clean Drivers Licence and Appropriate Permit from Belgium

  • High School Diploma Certificate, Associate Degree or equivalent qualifications

  • Defensive Driving Certification is a plus

  • Proficiency in English and working knowledge of French

  • Manage a demanding schedule and be flexible to a changing timetable

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Thorough understanding of road regulations

  • Previous experience in an international organization is an asset
