Founded in Brussels in 1983, CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) is a leading think tank and forum for debate on EU affairs, which has been consistently ranked among the world’s top 10 best think tanks. CEPS’ distinguishing features include its strong in-house research capacity and an extensive international network of partner institutes. CEPS’ funding comes from a variety of sources, mainly research grants, public procurement, membership, and conference fees. CEPS is currently looking for an Editorial Officer. This is a Brussels-based position under a Belgian employment contract.


Formatting, design, and publications management

  • Formatting and laying out all in-house CEPS publications, ensuring a consistent and professional appearance;

  • Creating original report designs that enhance content presentation and reader engagement;

  • Uploading publications onto the CEPS website;

  • Applying specific templates to publicationsthat fall under specific projects or for external institutions;

  • Regularly updating the shared online Publications Tracker on SalesForce;

  • Ensuring all CEPS publications strictly adhere to all relevant copyright requirements.

Editorial and content support

  • Preparing engaging summaries of longer CEPS publications and other bespoke content to support the work of the Comms and Events/Membership teams;

  • Occasionally editing shorter policy texts to improve readability, clarity, coherence, and quality to ensure that they meet CEPS’ editorial standards;

  • Coordinating certain inhouse publications, such as the CEPS annual report.


  • University degree or equivalent;

  • You are a native or near-native English speaker. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus;

  • You have a minimum of three years of relevant experience;

  • You have solid experience using Microsoft Word's extensive features and functionalities, including advanced formatting, styles, and templates;

  • You have a proven record of designing and formatting engaging publication templates;

  • You have a good of knowledge of Canva and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of SalesForce would be a plus;

  • You have a proven record of editing and/or drafting relevant content, such as opinion pieces, policy briefs, publicity materials, etc.


  • You are creative and enjoy the challenge of designing attractive visual content;

  • You can draft engaging written content in English that is used for a variety of dissemination purposes and for a multitude of different audiences;

  • You are comfortable not only working in a small team but also collaborating with many individuals – senior and junior – across the whole organisation;

  • You can be diplomatic but firm when you need to be, respect deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks and changing priorities;

  • You have absolute respect for diversity and an inclusion-oriented mindset;

  • You are open to giving and receiving feedback;

  • You are enthusiastic to contribute towards the success of the whole of CEPS as an organisation.


We initially offer full-time employment for 12 months. The contract is renewable. The salary will be in accordance with your previous experience as well as the CEPS salary scale. We also offer a benefits package (group & hospitalisation insurance, meal tickets, public transport reimbursement, 20 days legal holiday entitlement per year plus an additional two weeks during the Christmas-New Year period when CEPS is closed, as well as the possibility to telework in Belgium + 20 days per calendar year of teleworking from abroad). We would like the preferred candidate to start as soon as possible and by April 2024 at the latest. The job will be based in Brussels.
