JOB SUMMARY:

The full-time Development Manager, Multilateral Funding, will have responsibility for working closely with the Managing Deputy Director to seek, stimulate, and secure funding for GMF programs from multilateral organizations world-wide.

This position is primarily donor-facing, providing fundraising strategy, coordination, and direct engagement for an assigned portfolio of multilateral funders. The Development Manager, Multilateral Funding will additionally provide fundraising strategic input on a secondary basis for donor relationships that are primarily managed by program leads. The Development Manager, Multilateral Funding will be additionally responsible for obtaining and sharing sectoral business intelligence that GMF can leverage to fund key strategic and programmatic priorities.

The Development Manager, Multilateral Funding will work in close coordination with the other members of the Multilateral funding team within Development, with members of the programmatic teams who also work on fundraising. Other close collaborators will be in the Strategic Engagement / External Affairs Hub, Finance team, as well as other Development officers.

The Development Manager, Multilateral Funding will report directly to the Managing Deputy Director, Development Operations and Institutional Funding. The Development Manager supervises the Development Coordinator, Multilateral Funding.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resource Mobilization

  • Fundraising Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for a portfolio of multilateral funder prospects, ensuring alignment with GMF's mission and goals and solicitation of six- to seven-figure gifts;

  • Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for certain funders, while serving in a coordinating role with program and institutional leadership, for others;

  • Prospect Identification and Cultivation: Identify, qualify, and cultivate potential funders, focusing on securing contributions primarily at levels of $250,000 and above;

  • Customized Solicitation Plans: Create and execute tailored cultivation and solicitation plans for each funder, considering their unique priorities, motivations, giving patterns, and preferences;

  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the Development Coordinator, M&E lead (where appropriate), program staff, and Finance team to prepare and submit high-quality proposals and reports to funders;

  • Donor Retention and Upgrading: Implement strategies to retain and upgrade existing multilateral funders, ensuring long-term engagement and support;

  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions with funders in the donor management system.


Coordination and Analysis

  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on fundraising progress, providing regular updates to senior leadership on the pipeline of opportunity and on closed gifts, adjusting strategies as needed;

  • Professional Development: Stay informed about trends and best practices in multilateral funding and philanthropy and apply this knowledge to enhance fundraising efforts;

  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to fundraising;

  • Prospect research: Identification of absences among GMF’s multilateral funders and proactively coordinate with development teammates and organization-wide collaborative partners to create and implement engagement strategies;

  • Fundraising Culture: Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization, working with teammates and programs to elucidate culture of fundraising;

  • Guidance: To GMF programs in pursuing, cultivating and stewarding multilateral donors and prospects.


Monitoring and Admin

  • Monitor: Own and Coordinators portfolio by retrieving data for reports and analysis from Microsoft Dynamics;

  • Data driven creation of monthly and quarterly reports that accurately reflect multilateral funder activity, pipelines, and fundraising outcomes at GMF.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Master’s degree required;

  • Experience: Five to seven years of professional experience in fundraising, multilateral contracting, or a closely related field;

  • Prospect Management: Strong understanding of prospect management systems and pipeline development;

  • Grant Writing: Proven experience in grant writing is essential;

  • Institutional Experience: Experience with the United Nations and/or Multilateral Financial Institutions is required;

  • EU Funding Programs: Experience with European Union funding programs is desirable;

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, including planning and analysis;

  • Technical Skills: Ability to work with integrated databases; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.


SALARY:

  • €65,225 - €81,531.
