JOB DETAILS:
- Reporting Line: Senior EU Policy Manager;
- Department: International EU Policy & Public Affairs;
- Key Relationships: EU Policy Officer, Int. Senior Digital Communications Manager and relevant advocacy colleagues in PV countries;
- Location: Brussels or within a one-hour train commute to Brussels;
- Hours: Full-time (38h - 40h); Part-time options can be considered. No expectations of weekend work, local travel as needed;
- Telework: Flexible working arrangements, option to work from home and 1-2 days a week in a co-working space (shared with ProVeg colleagues);
- Salary: €37k-€42k, dependent on experience;
- Contract Length: 1 year + possible extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will manage and develop communication assets, including blog posts, social media content, newsletters, internal communications, and media outreach in English;
- With the support of the policy and international research team, you will write and distribute posts, news articles, press releases, position papers and other content;
- You will monitor media coverage of plant-based food issues and policy developments in food;
- Together with communication colleagues, you will ensure advocacy campaigns are highly visible, attractive, and engaging through online outreach, media/PR, and social media;
- You will provide support in communications-related project management tasks;
- You will support the EU policy managers with research, by reviewing European institutions (Commission, Parliament and the Council) priorities, and identifying and communicating emerging issues and proposing solutions;
- You will develop policy briefings and action plans aligned with priorities to influence positive change;
- You will stay informed about political developments, parliamentary activities, and relevant environmental, health, and scientific areas;
- You will support the implementation of strategic direction and operational EU policy aims;
- You will represent ProVeg at internal and external events;
- You will support relations with external bodies such as government departments and agencies, relevant private sector organisations and other organisations, including representing ProVeg on committees and working groups;
- You will contribute to the annual and quarterly planning process.
QUALIFICATION:
Essential
- University degree and/or relevant experience in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, European Union Studies, Political Sciences, International Relations, or similar;
- Minimum 1 year of working experience in one of the fields above;
- Proven experience managing external and internal communication channels, including social media, email, and traditional media;
- Knowledge of and professional experience in using social media for content creation, particularly for Twitter and LinkedIn;
- Demonstrable experience developing policy outputs and advocacy plans that effect change;
- Understanding of and experience working with EU policy processes and multi-stakeholder partnerships/campaigns;
- Excellent written and verbal communication and diplomacy skills;
- Excellent written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset;
- Commitment to ProVeg’s vision and mission.
Desirable
- Experience in the NGO sector;
- Understanding of the EU Agri-food ecosystem;
- Understanding of performance metrics and KPIs to track policy and public engagement progress.
