ABOUT FUTURE CLEANTECH ARCHITECTS:
Future Cleantech Architects (FCA) is a non-profit climate innovation think tank, located in Remscheid, Germany with full-time team members in six European countries. We exist to close the remaining innovation gaps to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. FCA accelerates innovation in critical industries where sustainable solutions are still in very early stages. Moreover, we urge policymakers to better shape policies and intensify and prioritize their R&D activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Policy Officer, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of EU Policy, anticipating, analyzing, and influencing EU initiatives in critical sectors such as energy systems and storage, transport (aviation, shipping), high-temperature industrial heat, or construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Policy Officer, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of EU Policy, anticipating, analyzing, and influencing EU initiatives in critical sectors such as energy systems and storage, transport (aviation, shipping), high-temperature industrial heat, or construction.
The responsibilities include the following tasks:
- Monitor EU policy and legislative developments;
- Conduct in-depth analysis to identify policy and funding opportunities and gaps for advancing cleantech solutions and industrial decarbonization at the European level;
- Provide timely and well-researched insights, collaborating closely with FCA’s Cleantech Analyst team to integrate technical findings into policy recommendations;
- Develop a range of policy documents, including reports, policy briefs, and amendments, in line with FCA’s focus areas;
- Work with the Comms Team to develop effective messaging for policy papers and compose articles, blog posts, well-designed and concise presentations, and other relevant materials;
- Contribute to the organization of events that bring together EU institutions, policymakers, innovators, and industry representatives, and participate in coalitions’ working groups.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERTISE:
- Master’s degree in a relevant policy field such as economics, climate, or energy;
- Strong understanding of EU policy and regulatory frameworks in the focused fields, with at least three years of relevant work experience;
- Excellent analytical and research skills to interpret complex technical data and translate it into policy recommendations;
- Experience working on energy systems, electricity market design, and high-temperature industrial heat is a plus;
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
- Experience in preparing policy documents, presentations, and reports;
- Detail-oriented and able to work proactively and collaboratively in an international team and a dynamic environment, with a passion for driving positive change;
- Excellent command of English, both oral and written. Proficiency in French or German is a plus.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Remuneration: FCA offers a competitive salary at a level commensurate with the level of experience and allowances, including post adjustment;
- Work from home: The position allows for predominantly working from home, in or around Brussels, Belgium, with regular attendance at events in Brussels expected;
- Starting Date: The position can be filled for two years with the intention to prolong the contract thereafter. The starting date would be ASAP.
