The Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.
The current vacancy is in the JRC Financial Services Unit within the Support Services Directorate. The mission of our Directorate is to ensure the efficient and effective deployment of the resources necessary to support JRC's activities, in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations and to make the JRC sites safe, secure and attractive working environments by providing efficient customer-driven services to facilitate the current and future scientific activities of the JRC while ensuring that JRC sites act as a good neighbour to their respective communities at large.
The mission of the Financial Services Unit, where the post is vacant, is to steer the implementation of modern, harmonised and streamlined financial business processes, systems and services across the JRC and for the e-procurement project at Commission level. The Unit acts as a centre of financial competence coordinating and facilitating best practices in finance and procurement across the JRC by providing training and supporting the financial and operational networks. The Unit provides guidance and administrative support for JRC's contractual activities. The Unit also provides the JRC financial reporting and accounting services.
The vacant position is for a Budget Officer in charge of managing JRC budget monitoring including staff, means and specific credits according to regulations, JRC allocation plans and management decisions and in close cooperation with the Head of the Budget Monitoring Sector.

OUR PROPOSE:
The future jobholder will be in charge of the coordination and implementation of an optimised budget structure at the JRC and will advise JRC Directorates on the execution and implementation of their budget. She/he will work in close cooperation with the Head of Sector in conducting data quality control for budget reporting; budget implementation forecast; follow-up of decommissioning budget with analysis of data. She/he will also provide direct management of cross delegations and co-delegations received. She/he will manage security access using specific tools, ensuring integrity and protection of financial data.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for and expert Budget Officer with who has an experience of at least 3 years in the management of big financial data and in working with related IT tools necessary to perform this task, namely with Excel and SAP. (essential).
She/he has an eye for detail and excellent analytical skills.
Some experience with SUMMA and DG BUDG procedures is considered as an advantage. C1 level of English language is required and knowledge of Italian language will be considered as an advantage.
