DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a motivated new colleague who wants to join an exciting research program within the VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology in the Pasciuto lab (Prof. Emanuela Pasciuto).

The research will explore the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuroimmune interaction in the context of Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative diseases.

The position will involve analyzing single-cell RNA-seq and single cell Omics (including multiplex proteomics, transcriptomics data, and TCR sequencing) by applying best-practice bioinformatics workflows. It will require a highly motivated bioinformatician or computational biologist to provide support for a variety of projects in Neuroimmunology. The role requires competency in programming languages such as Python and/or R and will involve working on a high-performance computing cluster. The individual will collaborate closely with other bioinformaticians and biologists to work on joint initiatives.

PROFILE:

Essential Requirements

  • Masters in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent;

  • Detailed knowledge in Python and/or R;

  • Solid grasp of statistics;

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;

  • Flexibility and ability to develop new skills;

  • High-quality written and oral communication skills;

  • Use of high-performance computing clusters;

  • Should be motivated and independent, while being able to interact effectively with other members of the team;

  • Should be proficient in written and spoken English.


Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in the analysis of single-cell RNA-Seq;

  • Experience in the analysis of multiomics data is a strong asset;

  • Development of ShinyApps;

  • Experience with data management of large scale datasets;

  • Knowledge of immunology is a plus.
