JOB DESCRIPTION:
Transport & Environment (T&E), Europe's leading clean transport think tank and campaign group, is looking to strengthen its cars team with a skilled policy manager to lead Europe’s efforts to clean up car manufacturing. As T&E’s automotive sustainability & circularity expert you will lead the work to address Europe’s carbon and material footprint in the automotive sector.

Transport & Environment (T&E), Europe's leading clean transport think tank and campaign group, is looking to strengthen its cars team with a skilled policy manager to lead Europe’s efforts to clean up car manufacturing. As T&E’s automotive sustainability & circularity expert you will lead the work to address Europe’s carbon and material footprint in the automotive sector.
SPECIFICALLY YOU WILL:
- Become the go to person around automotive sustainability and circularity;
- Lead T&E's efforts on developing, coordinating and impleenting T&E’s work on key automotive policies around vehicle materials, sustainability, and circularity;
- Conduct in-depth analysis of carmakers' strategies on circularity and embedded carbon, assessing their approaches;
- Scoping new relevant topics and taking them forward; commissioning and delivery of impactful research;
- Coordinating T&E's automotive circularity and embedded carbon work, with the different internal teams, T&E members and national experts;
- Support the building and implementation of national strategies in key national markets, such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, UK and Poland;
- Represent T&E in external engagements, building partnerships with EU policymakers, industry stakeholders, and progressive NGOs, while working closely with T&E’s leadership to meet funder requirements and program goals;
- Design and execute advocacy strategies to shape new EU initiatives, such as the End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation, vehicle lifecycle analysis as well as EU Circularity Act, and potential measures aimed at decarbonizing key automotive materials like for steel, and aluminum;
- Support the overall work of the team;
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:
Essential requirements
- Strong expertise in automotive production, vehicle circularity, material sustainability or vehicle lifecycle assessments;
- At least 5 years of experience in the field;
- Understanding of policy decision-making and how it affects the industry;
- Enjoys scoping new projects;
- Ability to grasp complex issues and translate them into non technical content;
- Enjoys working in a team environment, supporting the growth of the team and its members;
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage programs across multiple teams;
- Communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with policymakers, industry experts, and NGOs.
Good to have
- Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder coalitions or projects;
- Ability to develop and implement strategic policy positions.
