COTANCE is Europe’s tanning industry association, based in Brussels. Members are the national Leather Trade Associations of IT, ES, FR, DE, UK, AT, PT, NL, SE, HU as well as Scan-Hide from Denmark.  With some 300 million m2 of finished leather produced each year, COTANCE members account for more than 90 per cent of the continent’s output and some 18% of World sales in this exclusive material generating about €8 billion in annual turnover (more at www.euroleather.com).

COTANCE is looking for a motivated Advocacy & Regulatory Affairs Officer to support our team working on key priorities for the European leather industry.  S/he will report directly to the Secretary General. The contract will be permanent (Contrat à Durée Indéterminée).

Position starting in January 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Secretary General on EU legislative priorities, such as EUDR, the EU Green Claims Directive, and the EU Eco-Design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), etc;

  • Monitor and report on developments in relevant EU REACH restrictions regulations affecting the leather industry;

  • Developing and animating networks for advocacy and stakeholder engagement;

  • Conduct research, draft articles, and prepare informational materials for the COTANCE website and stakeholders;

  • Support COTANCE’s working groups by briefing summaries on thematic issues, drafting documents, organizing meetings, and updating databases;

  • Participate in meetings, preparing presentations and reports, and handle day-to-day correspondence;

  • Accompanying the Secretary General in meetings, including at international fairs and other events;

  • Assist in planning and executing EU project activities, including reporting, under the guidance of the Project Manager;

  • Regularly research and track funding opportunities.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (International Affairs, Law, Economics…);

  • Excellent English knowledge is a must;

  • Knowledge of the EU institutions and regulations;

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively;

  • Available to travel.


FURTHER ASSETS:

  • 1-2 years working experience;

  • Knowledge of the livestock and meat sector, the leather industry, chemicals, or the fashion sector is a plus;

  • Knowledge of other European languages;

  • Experience in project management or volunteering activities.

The candidate will work in a small team with possibility of part-time teleworking.
