ABOUT ENTSO-E:

ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. We coordinate the cross-border system operations, system development and electricity market activities of the 40 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) which cover 36 countries. The ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels provides support on technical, market and policy developments for all European TSOs in their cooperation with each other, in their joint fulfilment of their legal mandates, and in the intensive interactions with EU decision-makers, regulatory agencies, associations representing network users and other stakeholders.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a highly professional and skilled Adequacy Specialist, passionate about the European electricity market and the energy transition. As an Adequacy Specialist at ENTSO-E, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of key adequacy assessments, from short-term outlooks to long-term resource evaluations such as the European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA). Working at the intersection of system development projects like Scenario Building and the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP), you will play a vital role in ensuring consistency across deliverables, facilitating data sharing, and proposing methodological improvements.

In this role, you will be based full time in the ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels, within the System Development section, and report directly to the Adequacy Manager. You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid model, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work to support a good work-life balance. Occasional travels may be required.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Adequacy Specialist will contribute to the Association work mainly in the areas of European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA).  Responsibilities may be subject to change depending on the evolution of priorities and projects. Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to ensure timely delivery and quality of the products, involving members and external resources. Support communication and coordination with the study team(s) and other internal ENTSO-E groups concerned by the allocated tasks;

  • Interacting with European Stakeholders, e.g., ACER and the European Commission, as required;

  • Supporting the results analyses and their dissemination in clear and concise ways;

  • Defining and documenting models and proactively specifying needs for interfacing the models to support Data & Models in collecting high-quality data. Contributing to innovations for further improving robustness of models. Proactively looking for opportunities to improve the quality of models and enhance processes;

  • Ensuring a state-of-the-art Pan-European probabilistic market modelling and proactively contributing to its improvements, amongst other through automation of input / output processes.


YOUR PROFILE:

The Adequacy Specialist requires the following skills and abilities:

  • University degree, preferably in energy systems; Knowledge in economics is a plus;

  • Good knowledge of the energy sector. Good understanding of European energy landscape from a technical, regulatory, policy and market perspective;

  • Ability to work independently and in team setting with competing deadlines;

  • Team player with ability to self-prioritise and adapt to new priorities;

  • Fast learner and able to adapt easily to a continuously changing work environment. Eager to take coordination initiative and facilitate consensus;

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English;

  • Proactive and results-oriented attitude;

  • Working knowledge of simulation and/or optimization software tools, (e.g., Plexos, BID, GAMS), ideally applied to electricity market modelling simulations. General knowledge in electric network modelling could be a plus;

  • Experience in management and analysis of complex datasets using such software tools as MS Excel, Python, R, or similar;
