WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Cefic is looking for a Sector Group Manager to manage the ESA (Sulphuric acid) and EUROFLUOR (Hydrofluoric acid) sectors groups within the Halogens Industry Sector.
The right candidate will have a regulatory focus with a strong interest for technical files. They will coordinate the activities of the groups and respective sub-groups to ensure the positioning, communicating and safeguarding the members’ interests at all times in areas such as industrial emissions, chemicals legislation (CLP, REACH, …), sustainability (ESPR, Taxonomy…) and safety.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and agree on with the member companies strategies to deal with regulatory/advocacy issues that industries face in the relevant areas; and translate the approved strategy into specific objectives, priorities, budgets;
- Permanently monitor and analyse evolving EU policies and legislation and their possible impact on the industry; identify issues, propose actions and drive the formulation of shared position or statements;
- Ensure efficient advocacy of the industry positions to EU and national governmental bodies and agencies;
- Establish, maintain, extend and use a network of relationships and alliances with various governmental and industry stakeholders (including downstream user industries) in order to enhance the Sector Groups’ ability to convey the agreed industry’s positions;
- Coordinate the activities of the different sub-committees and working groups;
- Upkeep association and Cefic policies.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced professional who demonstrates the following experience, competencies and personal qualities:
- Work experience: a minimum of 3 years’ experience working at European/international level on EU regulatory and advocacy matters, preferably for the chemical industry or an industrial/trade association;
- Academic background: master’s degree in political sciences, international relations or related disciplines and/or in science, chemistry, pharmacy, toxicology or related disciplines;
- Good knowledge of chemical legislation is a great asset, together with a good understanding of the chemical industry & its value chain;
- Strong advocacy skills and experience with the EU regulatory framework, incl. the ability to analyze, understand and communicate complex pieces of legislation;
- Full professional proficiency in English; additional languages are a definite asset;
- A good team player who is able to work as well independently as in a multi-functional and multicultural team;
- High attention to detail combined with a strong ability to oversee different processes and manage different priorities;
- Strong interpersonal skills, networking skills and ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts;
- Strong communication skills: ability to speak clearly and concisely in front of a group; ability to deliver well-organised, very enthusiastic and convincing presentations and ability to adapt style and language to audience;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Good project management and computer skills;
- Curious, fast learning, service-minded and willing to improve continuously;
- Ready to travel (approx. 20%).
